D has been on call again this week and when his phone rang at 5:30 and woke Z and I up this morning he told me that he would get her and to go back to sleep.
I woke up at 8 to Z crying and him gone. But I guess they went to the store because I came out to make us some breakfast and found...
Doughnuts make him being on call all week a little better. It has been forever since I have gotten a doughnut. I also love that he gave me first choice so the boys had to wait lol.
I just let the kids eat as many as they wanted and wherever they wanted. I had to vacuum the couch after because Z took that to mean eating a sugar doughnut on the couch.
After the boys went to their dads and Z went down for her nap I worked on our trip blankets.
The new years blocks are done but not attached yet. I am now only 13 blocks behind for the year so far lol.
I am slowly making progress on my next pair of socks and have the first one almost done. I still need to make one more leg and stitch on the eyes. So instead of doing that I started on the second sock.
D made it home at 3 finally and when his phone rang again after dinner Z got in on the action.
So here we wait for him to get home from work again. I hate on call weeks.
A blog about my crazy life with kids, work, and some knitting for good measure

Movie Night
It was supposed to be K's choice of movie tonight but in light of todays events we agreed on him having his choice next week.
So tonight was Star Trek III The search for Spock.
Trekkies everywhere are without one of the most iconic people in their world.
We will never forget you and all of the Trek movies you were in. Live long and Prosper Mr. Spock.
On an up side I got to go to TCF Stadium again today.
It is weird being in a place that has 52,525 seats and there are only 100 or so people in the building when I am there is kind of a weird feeling.

Dig for Bugs Kit
G just got to test what in his opinion the best thing ever.
It is a kit to dig for bugs. I am not a fan of bugs at all but these were real bugs encased in plastic so that made them ok. This kit is only $11.99 from Amazon here.
The kit comes with everything you need and more. Included in the kit is the big bug which you dig apart to find the little bugs, tools, and a magnifying glass. It even comes with an adventure guide and a activity booklet.
It has this cute display for your bug too.
We laid out some newspaper on the old coffee table in the basement and G got right to work.
He started with the bugs belly.
It didn't take him long to find his first bug.
He didn't want to scratch it so he used the brush to get it out.
Look mom a bug!!!
After finding all 3 bugs there wasn't much left of his big green bug.
The bugs are rinsed off and ready to inspect with the magnifying glass. Thats when we ran into a problem.
This is a pic of a girl from the advertisement for other products in the box.
Here she is through the magnifying glass included in the kit. It was warped and useless.
Don't get me wrong this is still a great kit and he had so much fun doing it so it is still worth the $11.99. I just wanted to warn you of potential problems before you find them yourself.
We had one from another kit which he used to check them out so it really wasn't a big deal.
G has now asked for some of the other kits for his birthday. Next he wants the dinosaur one lol.
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Sock Monkey
This one I started in March of 2009. I was looking back at my Ravelry project page and realized how much G has grown since I started this guy.
I am guessing that this is about when I gave up working on him. Poor monkey needs some cloths and maybe ears and a tail. I just need to find him first lol. I figure I will start his PJs while I am looking.
Because it is TBT and I happened to be using an old pic of G with knit things here is an old pic of K wearing his homemade Harry Potter gear.
So far I am doing well with my 2015 goals. Ok all but 1 and that 1 is decreasing my yarn stash I have used some and replaced that some that I used with new yarn. But, the year is still new and I have lots of time to make good on that goal.
I am at 57 days today without a smoke.

Police Throw
I am as far as I can go on G's police blanket. I am not very good at picking up stitches so I am going to bring it to my mom (who is a fantastic crocheter) to finish it up. I started this big project on September 10, 2009 so thats what 5 and a half years in the making. I am so glad to finally have this thing done so I can move on to other projects.
The pattern is available on the Lion Brand yarn website here. You do have to register or sign in to get it. Otherwise all of the other info is on my project page on ravelry here
It took me a while to get pics because someone else wanted to see it too.
She is a huge fan of knitwear and will actually carry around with her anything that is hand knit that she can get her hands on.
I finally got a good pic using animal crackers as a distraction.
After dinner her and I had some fun playing dress up.
Until she couldn't find her bows because mom hid them so she wouldn't pull them out.
Today is day 56 without a smoke and that means that I start step 3 of the patches tomorrow.
I am a little nervous to start the 7mg patch but I survived the step from 21mg to 14mg so I can survive the step from 14mg to 7mg. I am now looking ahead to the 2 month mark on Sunday.

No Tech Tuesday
Last week we decided to spend looking for recipes and we even asked you guys what to do with a whole chicken. Well we took your advice and just threw it in the crockpot because you can do so much with cooked chicken.
Instead of water we did use a thing of chicken broth.
That was all we added because nothing else fit lol.
We did this on sunday so this is what it looked like when that part was done.
We picked out the skin, bones, and some of the breast meat and stuck the rest in the fridge until today.
Today we reheated the broth and bit of chicken that was left in it.
Then we added the noodles.
To get some seriously bland chicken noodle soup. We added our own spices which the boys thought was tons of fun until it tasted gross but still were made to eat it lol.
I just added some onion and season salt to mine. We put our leftovers in the fridge because tomorrow we plan to add the extra chicken to it and pour a jar of alfredo over it.
While I was making dinner the boys actually played nice together.
As K gets older he is starting to treat his younger siblings better.
G was so proud that he beat his big brother. If you look K never got a single "hit" I wonder if he saw G's board.
G on the other hand likes to be with mom in the kitchen.

February Bag of Stuff
Today we decided to get our month 2 bag of stuff ready to donate.
It was a good excuse to clean out the boy's old no longer played with toys, broken toys, too small cloths, and stained cloths.
Everyone helped.
G is giving his blocks that he hasn't played with in over a year to daycare so the other big kids have different toys to play with.
It has been a while since their room has been this clean and organized.
We ended up with one bag of garbage which includes many broken toys and stained cloths.
One bag of donate stuff ready to go on Monday.
One well earned treat ready to be served and eaten.
