Bears Win

Today G had his first football game of the season.  He has been looking forward to this day for almost a month now.

None of my pics are very good but he did sack the QB once.

He is super pumped for his Wednesday game already.

I am just glad that he is actually getting to play this year.

He is a tight end incase you were wondering.

Iron Range

This was our last weekend with the boys before school starts so we went on another weekend trip.

This was my first trip to the Iron Range of Minnesota.

We visited the Soudan Mine.

They had a ton of artifacts from the iron mining era.

We paid to do the underground tour.

We got to ride the old miner elevator down to the 27th floor underground.

We got to ride on the miner train 3/4 of a mile.

We now know a bunch of stuff about mining and have been farther under ground than most people that we know.

We also stopped to check out the big mining dump trucks.

Everything that is for mining is bigger than life.

Like the scoop for a digger that all 3 kids could stand in.

With all of that adventure the hotel left some to be desired.  The pool was freezing and the hot tub was too hot.  The view sucked.  Yes those are railroad tracks and yes the train went by about every hour all night.

The hotel provided ear plugs which we discovered in the morning.  UGH I did not sleep well last night and it feels great to be home.

Shoes

We took the kids back to school shoe shopping this evening.

G found shoes that he liked at the Skechers store but when we put them on the counter at the register someone cut in front of us and the cashier girl just didn't seem to care and started helping them.  I will never buy a pair of their shoes again.

So we headed over to Nike, Reebok and Famous Footwear and had no luck.

As a last ditch effort we stopped in to Asics.

G found two pair that he liked.

K also found two pair that he liked.

I am now broke but the boys did get their new shoes for school.

kids

Do you ever feel like all you do is work, do stuff with kids, and sleep?

Thats all my life is lately.  We have to go back to school shoe shopping tomorrow.

All we did this week is football.

I am getting out of town this weekend because I just can't take it anymore.

Pink

Wow what a day.  It started with a Z in my bed.

Then at work I scored a new hard hat.

It is pink and way cuter than my old yellow one.

It doesn't match my rain gear anymore but it does match my boot laces.

Then after football Z stole G's swim shorts out of his room and ran around the house with them on because she thought that they were pants.

Some days are silly around here lol.

Knitting

After daycare today Z spent the evening trying out her new cowgirl hat.

There is going to be a full review on this hat later so keep an eye out.

I finally figured out how to burn an hour and a half outside while G is at football.

Today I brought with the stuff to work on our trip blanket blocks.  I have been slacking on these all summer so I am way behind.  Its all good I have just over a month of 4 day a week football to catch up on them lol.

After that I think that I will work on more socks for myself.  I know that with my new job I will be outside for a few hours a day this winter so I want to be ready.

Frustration

So K is starting his freshman year of high school this year and today was pictures.  We had 2 options the first was from 12-3 and the second was 4-7.  I told him that when he gets home from dad's he should go and get his stuff done.

What does he do?  He pulled the picture envelope out of the packet of stuff that he needs and goes and gets his picture taken.  So when I got home and only had an hour and a half until football to shower and eat I had to spend that time running K back to the school to wait in even longer lines to turn in all of his paperwork so he could get his schedule.

Then in 65 degree weather I had to sit at football with no dinner for an hour and a half.

Somedays I wonder if being a mom is worth it.

Rochester

Do you ever have those days that you just want to get the heck out of town?  We had one of those today.

We headed down to Rochester and putzed around the mall there.  We also hit up the Walmart to get the last few things that we still needed for the boys for school.

No I didn't pay the $0.75 a ride I just let Z check out the ride ons while we were there.

We also went on a short walk.

Z is starting to figure out that the stroller can change looks when she wants it to.

She figured out that it had a basket under it as well.

But, the best part about the stroller is when we let her push it by herself lol.

Lowes

I had my dates wrong about the Home Depot thing  :(  it was Thursday so I missed it.  I did sign up for the September one so I am not too disappointed.

So I headed over to meet D and the kids at Lowes for that workshop.  It was the last of the Avengers series.  We did not do all 6 because we were busy most of the summer.  So we have only done Hulk Tank and now Thors Chariot.

The 3 guys worked very hard on their projects.

Z helped everyone hammer.

She even hammered dad lol.

She does love her new car.

It looks kinda cool I guess.

We only have 2 out of the six patches which the kids are fine with.  I looked online and people are selling the kits and patches for lots of money and to me it is not worth it.

We have signed up for the next kids workshop at Home Depot which is on September 5th and the next Do it Herself workshop is September 17th and I hope to make it to that one.

As for Lowes the next sign up is on Monday so we wont know anything until then.

Slacking

I havn't updated in a few days so here goes.

Thursday I worked and went to football.  I passed out at 8:30 because I was so tired.

Friday because there was no football we went to Target, filled K's prescriptions, bought a bunch of junk food for dinner and hung out and watched a movie as a family.

Today D is taking the kids to the Build and Grow at Lowes.  I say D is because I am going to attend my first Do it Herself at Home Depot.  They are both scheduled for 10 this morning so he is on his own.

I have never gone to an all women class before so this should be interesting.  It sounds like there will be some saw usage and everything.

I will update you later on how it went.

Cancelled

Football was cancelled today due to the rain.

We decided to go shopping because it is my birthday tomorrow and D has yet to go like a typical guy.

I never want to take 3 kids shopping again.

EVER!

Sioux Falls

We are home from our overnight trip to Sioux Falls.  We had so much fun.

We stumbled across some county fair.

No clue what county it was fut it was free so we checked it out.

We climbed the 5 story lookout and got a pic of Sioux Falls.

We took one from the ground too.

The photo of the kids because you always have to get a pic with all of the kids in it.

We checked out Devils Gulch and had to get a pic through the bridge.

Its not like the bridge was high or anything lol.

We checked out the water fall at Splitrock Park as well.

On the way home we tried to get a good pic on the bison at Blue Mounds State Park but this was the best we could get.  We were going to walk farther but I wanted to run back when I encountered a snake.  I don't care that it wasn't poisonous I don't like snakes.

Z was not happy to be heading back.

We checked out the quarry ruins.

We found some wild plums...we tasted them.

Because it was Sunday we stopped at the roadside church and looked around.

Nope it really is that small.

We also stopped at Split Rock Creek State Park.  This one wasn't on our list but we were driving by so why not.

It did have a nice view of a cool bridge.

Last on the list was Pipestone National Monument.   The rock looks like a face in this picture.

We stopped at this one because it had a waterfall.  It was beautiful.

I had never been to Sioux Falls and I definitely plan to return soon.  This was the 3rd state besides our home state that the kids have been to this summer.
