365 Part 3

I have officially finished all of the January blocks.

Starting with 1-21 Broken Wheel

1-22 Broken Dishes

1-23 Small Triangles

1-24 Mixed T (this one I am not very happy with)

1-25 Lost Ship

1-26 True Blue

1-27 Jacks on Six

1-28 Shoo Fly

1-29 Churn Dash

1-30 Greek Cross

Normally I would end here but I decided to finish out the month so I give you...

1-31 Flock of Geese

And for grins I went back and did the January 1 Bonus called Year's Favorite

So that is it for the January squares.  I have managed to complete all 32 blocks some with more difficulty than others.  I have learned many new techniques and have improved many other skills.  I hope to learn/improve even more as I embark on the February blocks.

This is how they all look next to each other for one last photo before I stash them away while I start the February blocks.

Top This

So like the yarn hoarder I am I just couldn't resist picking this yarn up last time I was at Handcock Fabrics.

It is so cute lol.

I altered the pattern slightly because I couldn't find my size 9 needles so I used 8s so I followed the pattern for the adult small and added 10 rows before the decreases.

365 Part 2

I am continuing with the 365 quilt challenge this weekend.

I redid my double 4 patch from last week.  I think that it looks a lot better now.

From 1/11 checkerboard.

1/12 Plait

1/13 Mountains

1/14 Six Strips

1/15 Triple Rail

1/16 Maggie's Mystery

1/17 Thrifty

1/18 Double 4 Patch

1/19 Half Square Triangle

1/20 Triangle Combination

I hope to be able to keep up with this 10 block a weekend thing until I catch up and only have to do 7 a weekend but as it is warming up outside it is getting harder and harder to want to stay in and sew blocks.

Here are my 20 blocks that I have so far.  I still need to iron this weeks but that can wait until later.

I also picked up some more thrift store fabric to add to my collection to make quilt blocks out of.

Stay tuned for next week where I hope to make the last 11 of January so I can start February.

Organizing

We are working on finding places to store things in this house.

I made a bin for Z's bows.

We scored a loft bed for her room as well so now she has a book shelf and a small dresser to put more of her stuff in.

I also stopped into Walmart and bought some drawered bins to put most of my fabric and other miscellaneous sewing supplies in.

As you can see from the pictures I still need some more storage but I am starting to make some progress anyway.

365

So I stumbled upon this blog the other day about making one quilt block every day for a year.

It is called the 365 challenge and you can get more info here.

I am starting out behind and only really have weekends to work on it so I figure that until I catch up I will have to do 10 blocks each weekend.  Here is block 1/1/16 called 3 Strips.

Block 1/2/16 is called Easy H.

Red Cross or should I call it Green Cross from 1/3/16.

Four Patch from 1/4/16.

Nine Patch from 1/5/16.

Four Strips from 1/6/16.

Two-by-Two from 1/7/16.

London Stairs from 1/8/16.

Uneven Nine Patch 1/9/16.

Double Four Patch from 1/10/16.  This one I might pull apart because I am not thrilled with the pink/green/yellow thing that I have going on.

Next week I hope to accomplish this and make my next 10.  If you can sew at all please join me in this challenge.
