Still searching for a seat for Z

Today we went to check out Buy Buy Baby for a convertible car seat.  I have a Dodge Avenger and he has a Chevy Suburban.  If you don't want to or can't afford to spend tons of money on a car seat be prepared for your kid to have no seat padding in their seat.  We were hoping to go out of town next weekend and having a bigger seat for Z would mean that she could see out the window better and just be more comfortable but so far no luck finding one that will secure properly in my car.  If anyone knows of a reasonably priced convertible car seat that will fit in smaller cars please let me know.
