Family Fun

After some discussion D and I decided to make time in our schedules to spend at least one hour a week having alone time with each boy.  Hopefully this will make them fight less having individual time not just family time.

Today D took G to deal with his sisters tires.  She finally got them done last week so he had to put them on her truck for her.  G had fun watching and helping.

K and I stayed here and got dinner started.  Also, we went through cookbooks to find appetizers to make for the 2 Christmas parties that we are having.

When the guys got home I was teaching K how to play Gin.  He got the idea quick and we had a blast trying to beat each other.  Then G and D joined us so we played Kings in the Corner.  K then wanted me to teach him how to set up solitaire.  He knew how to play just couldn't remember how to set it up.

While he played cards by himself G and I played sequence.

I think this has been our problem for a while.  When we sent the boys to bed today there was no fighting or whining they just went into their room and fell asleep.  That never happens lol.

Tomorrow we have a doctor appointment for Z's 12 month check-up and shots.  We have been betting on her weight.  My guess was 18# 2oz.  D is guessing 18# 8oz.  K went with 20# even.  G is guessing 15#.  She was at 17# 9oz when she was in for her ear infection a month ago.  We play by Price is Right rules so G might win lol.

I think I might pick up a new family board game for Christmas do you have any recommendations?  There are 4 of us and the boys are 8 and 14 so it has to be something that they both will enjoy.

Wrapping

We tried to do some gift wrapping but D got called into work so I did some knitting and seaming of our trip blankets.  I didn't take pics of them yet but I will post an update at the end of the year.

We got one of Z's gifts put together so we wont have to during the chaos of Christmas morning.

We had to put some 2x4s under it because out of the box it looks like you left it in the ghetto overnight and someone stole your wheels lol.

Z has now figured out how to climb and has started emptying my bookshelves.

I am going to have to block them off soon so she doesn't wreck all of my books.

Yes, that is a playpen full of presents behind her.  They are in there so she wont unwrap them before Christmas.  Hopefully we can put them under the tree next year.

I know my kids are spoiled but in my defence most of the gifts are cloths lol.

Christmas Party #2

The boys went to their dads yesterday so they missed the Christmas party today.

D, Z, and I had fun.  We got a duffel bag and a mini pool table in the gift swap.

Z gad a good dinner.  We had her eat in just a diaper because we didn't want her to get her cloths dirty.

She also made a new friend who is 2 months older than her but a lot bigger.

Her friend doesn't walk yet but they had fun anyway.

2 parties down 4 to go.  I am getting tired of Christmas already.

Knitting Done

I managed to get my Christmas knitting done!!!

I actually finished Z's elf slippers.  They are a little too big but thats ok.

The pattern is called Elf Shoes and it is free here.  The yarn is Patons Classic Wool.

I also got the fingerless mitts done for my step-mom.

The pattern for this one is called Fishtail Wristwarmers and it is also free here.  The yarn was missing the label so I have no clue what it is but I can tell you it is fingering weight cotton yarn.

So now that I have my Christmas knitting done I think I am going to start a sweater for Z and D's birthday socks.  I like to keep socks in progress in my backpack for working on during down time at work.

Ok I still have tons of gifts to wrap and a few left to buy to accomplish in my spare time lol.

Wrestling

G had his first wrestling tournament yesterday.  Ok it wasn't really a tournament it was a practice tournament.  It was set up like a real one but it wasn't against another school it was against our guys.

G lost his first match 5-0.  He was upset but got back out there.

The second match he won 14-7.

He almost pinned the second kid.

He lost the 3rd match to kid 1 because of a pin with 7 seconds left of the last period.

He had some tears.  He got his pics and certificate of participation.  He wants to do the second session but I am not sure I want to give up 2 nights a week for 2 more months.

We have some talking to do about it after Christmas.

Do your kids do sports?  Which ones?

Terry Treetop

G has another review for you.

This book is called Terry Treetop Saves the Dolphin by Tali Carmi.  It is available on Amazon for $0.99 here.

This book is about a boy who gets a dolphin in trouble and has to help a ranger save him.  It talks about dangers humans leave in the water that harms dolphins.

he book helps kids understand that if you leave things where they don't belong it can hurt animals.  We talked about leaving toys on the floor of his room and stepping or tripping on them as an example.

The book also has the boy not going in the water by himself which is a huge plus.

It is a well written and thought out book to help kids understand the dangers of being a sea animal.

G and I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

First Birthday!!!

Happy Hanukkah to all that celebrate!!!

Today is Z's 1st birthday!!!

Here she is at a week old with her big brothers

Here she is today eating cereal with her daddy.

Where has the year gone?  It seems like just yesterday we were in the hospital seeing her for the first time.

She is getting bigger and bigger every day.  She walks, she talks, she is in to everything.

She is ready for her second Christmas.

I am missing my baby but I am enjoying the big girl she is becoming.

What do you miss most about your kids being little?
