Icee Minion

It was a little chilly this morning so we had to dig out hoodies.

Z actually picked out her own and was thrilled to wear it with the hood on all the way to daycare.

I should have put blue pants on her to make the outfit even better but I didn't think of it until now.

On our walk we picked some wild flowers.

We walked all the way to the gas station to buy icees as a treat.

Z tried to steal Dads but he wouldn't let her have it all.

Garden

Today was our first day back to normal at our house and man it felt great to be back to our routine.

I started a new knitting project while I was searching for jobs today.  So far I have 2 pentagons and a few more to make lol.

We went for our after dinner walk with miss thing and her brothers.

I don't know what it is lately but the couches are out.  Yesterday on our walk we saw 3 couches on curbs and today another was spotted.  People need to learn to take their trash to the dump not just leave it on the curb.

She had to stop and watch the traffic on the freeway.  This time she got 2 big trucks to honk at her and it totally made her day.

We started our work in the garden today as well.  After being gone for a week the weeding is long overdue.  It looks like we will have a large crop of tomatoes and if anyone has something else we are open to garden fresh trades.

Then it was some bear crawling up the hill with daddy to burn off the last of the excess energy before bed.

Hydration Belt

If you are a regular reader of mine you know how much we enjoy being outside.  Now that it is reaching 90 degrees out water is a must.  Well we just got the chance to test and review a hydration belt.

It is made for runners (which we are not) to hold their essentials and some water.  But, we got to try it anyway.  This is available on Amazon for $29.00 here.

G wanted to try it out and model for the pictures so I said sure why not.  We had to find some binder clips to size it down for him but that is a given when we are talking an item made for adults.

The pocket holds everything someone would need for a run.  We fit in a smart phone, ipod, keys, id, and credit card.

This is advertized with 2 150ml water bottles.  I thought cool that would last for a while and one boy could carry water for both.  I was wrong lol.  I learned that 150ml was just over 1/2 cup of water.  It is great for a runner because it is light weight but for us it is great got G.

The belt itself is great with rubber grips on the inside so when you run it won't bounce or chafe.  Like I stated before it holds everything you need for a run and holds water as well.  This is a great product for runners and amature hikers like ourselves.  We give it 4 stars.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Pool

Now that we are home from vacation we decided that it was time to set up the boy's Christmas present.

It took all of us to get it set up.

Ok all of us but K because he wanted to sit inside and read his book.

The 2 little ones loved playing while it was filling.

He is so good to her.

Now that the hard part of setting it up was done look who decided to come out and join us.

In the end it was only G who would brave the cold water to play in the pool.

Z prefered to hang out in the house and watch out the front window with her friend Vader.

Home

I was so not ready to come home yesterday.  We got home just a little after midnight last night.  We would have been home sooner but we missed a reduced speed limit sign and got a "driving reward."  It was a sweet way to end a fabulous vacation.

Anyways...

Before we headed back towards home we did some sightseeing in Duluth.

Ok I wanted to drive across the lift bridge and actually walk over and see the walking bridge.

G just had to get a closer look at the Irvin.  We didn't have time to do the tour so we plan to make the trip to do that later this summer.

We also stopped at J Cook State park on the way home.

By the end of the stop Z had to change her outfit.

See that water she had to get into it shoes and all.

G did get to climb on the rocks in the park which is always fun.

He is such a ham.  We did stop at Nana's cabin and my friend Kat's house on the way home as well.  Everything said and done we had tons of fun and made some great memories with our children that will never be forgotten.  I can't wait to do it again next year lol.

As for today?  We spent the day being bums and unpacking the car.  We did have to run to the grocery store for milk and bread because we ate all of that on Saturday before we left.

Day 5

Tomorrow we make the trek home but today was still one more day of fun.

Today we went to Split Rock Lighthouse.

We did the guided tour so we learned tons of stuff about it.

We got to go all the way to the top and see the light itself turning.  It blinks once every 10 seconds and all lighthouses in the area had a different blink so you knew which ones you could see.

We then stopped in Two Harbors to watch the ships get loaded.

We also walked to the end of the pier because it was fun.

Then I made them stop at the yarn store so I could buy a skein to make the blocks for our trip blankets to remember this trip.

After that we checked into our hotel and ran down to check out the pool.  G just had to have his picture taken.

"Get one of me under the water too Mom."

We had dinner at the Perkins in Duluth and then checked out the boat park in Superior.

I don't recall the name of the park but G called it the boat park because if the big boat in it.

Tomorrow we start the final leg of our trip and by tomorrow night we will be in our own beds.

Day 4

Today was more about G and Z than it was about anyone else.

We did see one water fall and this one was called Powerhouse Falls.

G had to get his picture taken pretending to be tied to the railroad tracks.

We made some new friends at Pete's Petting Zoo.

We just had to feed our new friends.

They even posed for pictures.

Then we went off to play miner.

G and I look super cool in our color coordinated hard hats.

They even took a pic of us in front of the mine entrance,

Then on our way to our hotel we saw this pay phone.  We had to stop and take a pic of it because these days you never see such a thing.  G had to ask what it was even.

To end the day today I finished another pair of socks and G lost a tooth at dinner.  No it wasn't bad food but a regular loose tooth that managed to fall out.
